Javier Guirado Alonso is a PhD Student specializing in modern Gulf and Middle East History under the supervision of Dr. Allen Fromherz, director of the Middle East Studies Center.
He holds an MA in Contemporary Arab and Islamic Studies by the Autonomous University of Madrid. His research focuses on the historically changing relations between society, the built environment, and narratives of modernity in the Gulf. His work has appeared in Foreign Affairs, The Maydan, or the Georgetown Journal of International Relations.
